I usually do that too... don't know what took me this time.
Doing the dist-upgrade on a slow mirror took 5+ hrs. So a 700MB
download, wipe and install probably would have been quicker / safer.

I'm suprised I even got back a booting system.
I will probably end up creating a new user account and moving my files
to it so I get the look of the new distribution back. The old $HOME
usually has so much cruft...
Metronome Distribution releases have pro's and some big con's.
Armageddon Distro releases (we know it's coming just not when) have
different challenges.
When it comes to software and the release management style, there will
always be several camp's of PRO and CON sayers.
But as David Vizard ( a car tuner ) once said. "I don't have an opinion.
I have a dyno". In other words. After all the talk it's what is measured
that stands.... And with Linux Distrobutions or Movies or Politicians
it's popularity that wins.
