They're all running a Linux kernel. ;-)  Actually the package lists are very 
similar and almost identical at a base level (samba, postfix, ssh, etc.).

The things that tend to be unique (many are similar but no two are identical 
in their combinations): disks, partitions, VPN, NICs, firewall, as well as the 
base hardware platform (processor, memory, chipset). Occasionally one will 
actually have a full GUI setup. Some might have tools for processing images or 
audio files.
