It works great as a server distro. I have 6.06 LTS and 8.04 LTS boxes 
scattered hither and yon. They run.

The Ubuntu/Canonical server developers in the official mailing list have no 
trouble pointing out that Ubuntu server does not yet have the full complement 
of tools and such to be truly Enterprise ready (in the same way as, say, RHEL 
or SLES). But it's getting there.

Despite the axe-grinding you'll occasionally hear on this list, it's an 
excellent choice for almost anyone. And probably the best choice for most - if 
they don't have some reason to know they need something else.
