Are you sure the system as a whole has hung? I have a problem similar to
yours, and I can log in remotely, even though the console/keyboard/mouse
are hung. I can also kill the hung X session, and suddenly work again -
a new X login screen. Until they again fail. This is also on a laptop
with nvidia drivers. I have been assuming it is a hardware issue as it
seem to have started when no update was done, and I was the only one who
seemed to have the problem. Maybe not...
