Slow scroll in Mozilla

Try running TOP to see if anything is soaking up CPU cycles.   I have found 
that Firefox will often spend 100% of the cpu doing 'something'.  I usually 
have to kill it and restart.

But a cpu bound task will often cause your symptoms.
