Ok, I will have to change my thinking in that I have an older dual core 
AMD machine with a gig of memory
and an 80 gig HD. I will just use this and install smoothwall on that. 
Up till now, for windows, I have been
using Zone Al;arm Suite plus Spybot and SywareBlaster which has given me 
reasonable security.

I would assume that all I will need is smoothwall and setup as a 
firewall and router to just a single linux/widows
based machine untill I get either Vmware or Virtual box installed and 
running.
