any exports on ripping dvds out there?

I've got a few dvds that just don't want to cooperate when I go to rip
them. I'm using dvdrip and transcode, and it works *wonderfully* but
some of these damn discs just won't rip properly. For example, I've
got a disc here that no matter what track I select, the opening scene
is _not_ the opening scene of the movie. In fact, each track seems to
start with some random scene.

I need someone to help me validate what I'm doing and let me know the
'tricks of the trade' to work around this bullshit extra 'protection'
.. and don't tell me 'anydvd' like google does :)
