Samba freezing my computer

I lost my main linux firewall/gateway and spent a day
getting things to work again. I swapped in some larger
hard drives to make it all worthwhile, etc. All I have
now is one linux box, one Vista box, and a D-link router
as the firewall and gateway. (Life gets simpler when the
kids all move out.)

I am experiencing a new bug.

When I try to access my linux box from Vista using samba,
my linux box freezes up.

No clues in samba logs or messages, but syslog shows a
string of zeroes (1305) at the time of the freeze up.

Any clues appreciated. (Not like, get a clue and get rid
of Vista! I have already thought of that, but, the price
was right. Besides, the user is my wife.)

I just wonder if this is a virus that came into Vista
after my linux box, which was the firewall, went down. I
don't know if the D-link router is as well configured as
my linux firewall was, although I think I am blocking all
ports except for port 80 just for my linx box.

If this is a virus, Vista is going, that's for sure.

Thanks,

Joel
