Ok, Guess I will Chime in as well ....

FWIW, Server and High End Workstation gets blurred here and
totals INCLUDE those that I support.

5 "server" Class machines all Quad Core machine with 4GB
ram and 1TB disk space. Appgen, COBOL, Database etc.
All are APPLICATION Type servers.

OTH, have about 20 "Linux" Workstations I Support.

Big fat Zero ..... All have Monitor and Keyboards.

All have X on them, only MY 2 here here stay in X all the time.
The OTHERS only, when i need to do something, otherwise they stay
in console Mode.

Slackware 12.x on all of them. Text Install with a PREDEFINED (custome) TAG
setup to Install what I want. All locally done VIA a DVD.

Downloaded the DVD, then MADE up my own. Installed about 90% of the programs
on them.


I ALSO use LPRng, not CUPS, Do not install MySql, Postgres, sendmail..etc 
(unless needed).


Most add on software is DONE via Config/Compile with a Slackware specific script 
to do the it for me and the Directory kept in a repository.
