Not really true....    

I have downloaded the files from  www.virtualbox.org  and also used these 
instructions to install and turn on  USB support.  Seems to work.

You have to edit a couple /etc/udev/rules.d   files but that's not hard.

Could be....   but the sound on  Hardy 8.04beta is working fine with  Vbox
