Sun has been doing some very interesting things, probably most
notably for FOSS is their ZFS file system.

Perhaps Sun's acquisition will clear up some of the wierdness in
the MySQL licensing, which has NOT been GPL.

Licensing, and much more mature support for stored procedures,
triggers, and SQL standards compliance have led me to use
postgresql for serious database back ends.
