Bob,
I've got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed (good thing I'm a
touch-typer) for you. "Love, Medicine & Miracles" would be a good book
to pick up and read in your spare time (make time for it). Cancer is no
longer the death sentence it used to be, but that doesn't mean it will
be easy. The kidney problems actually sound worse, to me, and I hope
you have a plan for dealing with them.
For an old laptop, LFS will definitely keep you busy!
