We're having the first white Christmas in the Seattle area since
1996 with about a foot of snow here, and two feet at my brother's
in nearby Redmond highlands.  While people in the midwest and
northeast U.S. are used to this, the locals here freak when they
see this much white stuff (and there are more long, steep hills
here to negotiate here which makes it a bit ``interesting'').

My best present this year has been the big surprise of not having
a major wind storm with week-long power outage.  All the weather
forcasts last weekend predicted a major wind storm last Sunday so
I bought 6 extra gas cans, and have about three days supply for
my generator.  Of course the wind never got bad once I prepared.
