I had been running Caldera stuff since before COL.. I was an alpha, beta, and final tester of what was called "Canberra". This was about '95 time frame. I had invested a lot of my time in testing out fine tuned pre-beta stuff on a lot of different types of systems providing timely, thorough feedback. When I saw 3.0, 3.1, 3.11 I was hopeful.
*But* when SCO got *anywhere* near Caldera the words coming out of my mouth were strings of expletives. I had visions of my many years working with Xenix, and SCO Unix. Both were the *absolute worst* products I have ever been subjected to. Talk about stripped down, broken, ridiculous to install junk. Did someone say compile? Yeah - right.
COL wasn't bad, but a bit too much help for my taste. Caldera went a flushing down the toilet sadly. It only took me forever to get back my investment in the IPO. When I had the stock, I felt dirty, ashamed, like I was floating in effluent.. When I sold it, I took a long hot shower and instantly felt a lot better - although it took about a year to get *that* taste out of my mouth! :-)
