I recently migrated a RHEL3 machine to RHEL5, and I followed the
following steps:
I scp'ed the /etc/samba/passdb.tdb file to the RHEL5 machine
I ensured that the critical parts of samba's configuration files were
the same (the global section in the conf file)
I then ensured that the local users/groups were sync'ed correctly
between the two machines.

my RHEL5 machine, and verified that my users could still access their
files and printers, and didn't have any issues.
If you run into any issues, let me know.

Solving site load issues with database replication is a lot like
solving your own personal problems with heroin -- at first, it sorta
works, but after a while things just get out of hand.
