I'll answer just the one mail and thank everyone for their contributions.
Ok so I am not going to do much with Crossover and probably Wine (how
long have I seen Wine in Development)
(since I first joined the list in the early 90's)
Can I install and run both VB and VMware using "suck it and see method"
? Must admit though that the install instructions are daunting.

Ahhh! I had a suspicion that might be the case. Before I installed all
the new board etc, I was running MSI Ne04 Pro and that was
just fine, but everything esle working threw me. I'll go look for an
updated version as I have a free program installed that sees Ext2/3
partitions its called Ext2IFS-1-1 and sees linux drives and partitions
and can read/write: Handy.
Also Lonnie seeing that you are doing panoramics and using hugin, have
you seen AutopanoPro for linux. On windows it looks in any folder
and makes up panoramics automatically from what it finds that is of a
series. More importantly it will give great images from handheld shots.
I have actually got a couple made up of 72 bits. I must finally get my
images up and online again on myqueensland.net the old ones are still
there at the moment.
