I run Word Perfect X3/Win with XOver 5.0.3, which is more compatible 
than the most recent 6.x releases.
I have Abbyy FineReader 5 OCR installed in XOver 6.1 and it works 
nicely, although of course it cannot control a scanner directly.  
Running 2 instances of XOver in the same system is a bit complicated but 
doable.

What version of MS Office does your client have?  Office is the "gold 
standard" for XOver,  so chances are very good he will have 
functionality.  You or your client can download a trial copy and test 
your apps before buying.
