To elaborate a bit on Bob's post; this list has been around for a long
time, and has a membership with a wide and deep variety of experience,
knowledge, and, if it be not obvious, personality.
By and large, if you come to this list with a question or problem, and
take a bit of time to summarize lucidly
1. what is wrong, and
2. what you have done on your own so far,
you can expect a rapid barrage of responses reflecting extraordinary
knowledge and experience.
What is generally expected are some basic courtesies, such as trimming
redundant quoted text and taking a bit of time to organize your
thoughts. We all have our personal likes and dislikes, e.g. I assume
anyone who posts using "informal English" - devoid of punctuation and
capitalization - thinks I have plenty of time on my hands to decipher
his/her gibberish.
