I think Kurt was trying to make a little bit of a joke about being
flamed and he just forgot to put the smiley face at the end of his post,
didn't you, Kurt? <g>. There are a couple of things that the
old-timers have found is pretty useful and considered standard on the
list. One of the first things is that we try to insist on plain-text
for e-mails, partly because it takes up less bandwidth, but partly
because html is a common way to transmit virus-like things on Windows
mail clients. While this is not so much an issue for linux, it has
certainly become the standard on most linux lists.
The second is that we request that you bottom-post (replies go at the
bottom of the previous message) because it is very important for the
purposes of threading in the archives and makes the flow of commentary
work better.
