channel bonding

I would like to increase the Ethernet bandwidth of a server by using the
Pro 1000/MT Dual Server card from Intel. This server is Redhat 9 with
kernel 2.4.20.

Looking at Intel web site, they have ANS driver ( which does port
teaming )for this card and  for Linux kernel 2.4.x but they say that
they won't continue the ANS driver and will use the open source Channel
Bonding instead.

Do you know if their ANS driver is good enough , or is it better to
upgrade the server and use Channel Bonding ?

And if the later is better, then which 2.6 kernel has the most stable
feature of channle bonding ?
