After two days of googling through many sites, Fedora, Linux.com and
many others, it does appear that this controller is really to old to
be supported any longer and that the Company is no longer. 

David modprobe advansys showed the aic7xxx driver loaded, which is
used for the broken Adaptec 2940 controller I was using. There was no
mention of advansys. A search of my system for advansys.c, advansys.h
or advansys.ko returned no empty results. T tried the same on the DVD,
while it may have been contained in another module that I did not
open.

During this, I believe I will just go get another Adaptec card and
insert it into the system and be done with it. I ill write no more on
this subject, it is closed.
