So What is Linux Kernel Hacking?

It is in our GREAT STATE of Mississippi.

The law here simply states computer services and software is taxable.
It was written in the late 1960's, SO I assume it was crafted for those
big ol' dinosaur computer and canned programs that were evading
taxation at the time.

NOW from my FIGHT with our GREAT state tax commission (Yeah we wound up in
court over this), THEY SET the RULES to the LAW.

Such stupidty are things as:

Word processing is not taxable, but writing HTML (web page) is.
YOU can consult and support without taxation as long as you do not
touch the keyboard or mouse. Touch these things and it is taxable.

Running a SERVICE BUREAU and it's associated programs is NOT taxable,
but run these programs on a PC is taxable (?!?!!? WTFIT ?!?!?!).

If a PROGRAMMER/CONSULTANT makes Journal entries or correcting entries
in an accounting system, it is considered PROGRAMMING. If a CPA or
ACCOUTING firm does the same thing, it is accounting, and not
subject to taxation .... it goes on and ON

Even though we won our case, we lost the battle. The final words were
from a AGENT after the hearing:

Quote: "We are the AGENTS and WE decided what is taxable and what is
not regardless of rulings" ..

AND NO, I did not make the ABOVE up ....
