mkinitrd complains modules.dep is not updated

This server was installed with the origianl Suse 10.2 CD and has not had 
any update. The driver is from the Raid controller CD and it says 
explicitly this is for Suse 10.2 . And the installation guide shows how 
to edit /etc/sysconfig/kernel, depmod and mkinitrd. Everythnig went fine 
except the mkinitrd.
