Assert your manly prerogative! Tools are a biological necessity and your quest
to acquire them may not be abridged. Keep a lightly oiled wipe rag handy to
polish them and she'll not touch your posthole digger with a ten foot pole.
Well, I have known a gal or two that would swoon at the sight of machine oil
shine, but that's another story from another time.
With a good post-hole digger, you can dig REALLY deep down, with plenty of
room for some good handfuls of gravel or vermiculite at the bottom, a good
layer of top soil, then stick the tree in after opening up the root ball
gently. I always give them a watering with a light amount of miracle grow
mixed in. You just can't dig deep with a shovel unless you dig a pretty good
sized hole. For just two trees maybe you can borrow one?? Ric
