Most of the newer distributions with X11 running require more RAM than is
found on most of the older systems (and finding PC100 RAM isn't all that
easy). My 7+ year old ThinkPad 600 wouldn't work with anything newer than
SuSE 9.0 Pro because of inadequate memory and some interrupt conflicts on
the CardBus not allowing the newer PCMCIA wireless devices to be found.
