Lonnie and I had a very heated discussion about this topic off-list
already 24 hours ago. This reply was withheld from the list while I was
"moderated" (don't get me started on what I think the equivalent of that
is). I thought that we had reached some sort of truce and I essentially
decided to drop the whole issue, expecting that this post would fall
into the mysterious electronic trash can in the sky, but I see it is back.
I think the fact that several list members provided me with very, very
useful information which solved my problem, and that the thread was
short-lived indicates that the topic deserved consideration; clearly
Lonnie and I disagree about that. But Lonnie has strongly suggested
that topics that are not narrowly linux-focused be preceded by <OT>.
I'm happy to follow that suggestion. And I'm done with this topic, too.
Thanks!
