In any case, with a modern Ubuntu based distro, with or without RTFM,
you can forget about any need for scanbus. If you have an IDE CD
writer, all you need is 'dev=/dev/hdn' to access the device. The
original author of cdrecord is a horses ###, so you'll usually find
some snide remarks about Linux support for accessing the device by
it's real name.
