Ok, this on has me stumped. I have a MSI motherboard model K7N2 Delta-L
nForce2 Chipset.
Has a 2600 AMDXP CPU, 1.5GB ram, Geoforce MX400 Video with 64MB ram and I
have the latest BIOS in the system.
I am creating a a new install of Slackware 11.0 on a Seagate Barracuda PATA
133 Disk. The orignal disk in the system was a Maxtor 80GB.
(Lonnie, this is the machine I went round with on the kernel dev group and
having a tainted kernel and random lockups).
Ok, the install went flawless. Now I am copying stuff from the 80GB maxtor
to the Seagate. On of my maxtor partitions is 50GB and has 30GB of data.
When I start the copy, it randomly (from immediately to 5 - 10 minutes
into the copy) locks up with the "cp" and pdflush cosuming 50% EACH of
the CPU cycles and the system doing nothing.
Now, I put BOTH disk on a P4 933Mhz machine with the Intel PX4 Chipset
and the copy went flawlessly.
Any suggestions on this one?
Thanks ...
