Maybe check the file permissions?
If you still have the rpm files in a cache directory
(example: /var/cache/rpm/packages) I would use mc (midnight commander)
to examine the updated rpm files and see what files those rpms affect
and where they are located, then look in those directories to see if you
have any *.rpmnew or *.rpmsave files that may have replaced original
config files. Trouble shooting with a shotgun here! Ric
