Just beating Ric to the punch <grin>.

Sitting on my front porch, lookin' all around. Ooops, in my case it's
the patio. My favorite bee (hooked on pipe smoke) is buzzing about my
head. The dog and cat are soaking up rays. After 32 degrees overnight
2 days ago (record since 1887), the summer heat has finally arrived.

That's enough OT drivel.

1. Last night I solved the problem with wireless on my Thnkpad
(Atheros chip) on Feisty. I could get it to war, sortta, on an older
kernel, but the wireless would not be detected on recent kernels.
Finally the light bulb went on. Sometimes (but not always) the crappy
kernel packaging does not remember to reapply related stuff like
linux-restricted-modules-generic (contains the atheros support
module!). I encountered this once before when X stopped working
because the nVidia module was not updated after a kernel upgrade.
After a little more tinkering (wicd thinks wireless is device wlan0,
the kernel thinks it's wifi0, but no the real device is ath0) wireless
is now happy again.

2. Just installed the Gutsy Gibbon development release on my desktop.
Pretty boring stuff, since everything seems to work. Using gnome for
grins, and no, they haven't eliminated the brown sh*t theme! Will have
to try ths on the laptop as well.

18 hours to go until reality takes over again.
