basic YAST question

For you SuSE experts:

I usually just use rpm -Uvh or whatever to install rpms. YAST is
supposed to do this but whenever I fire it up to look for an rpm that
is, for example, on my Desktop, I have no idea how to make YAST find the
rpm. A long time ago I used kpackage to do this (check dependencies,
whatever). So can anyone give me the basic clue to using YAST for this,
'cause I assume YAST will keep track of what rpms are installed.

Thanks

Tony Alfrey
