It's usually more than just an adapter. Video needs a sync. signal as
well (V-sync and H-sync, really). You'll often see 4 wires; Red,
Green, Blue and sync. Some systems use one of the colors (usually
Green) to carry the sync. signals (called sync-on-green). Then
there's the matter of resolution and frequency.
The older HP, Sun, Apollo monitors were fixed frequency and would
only work with a specific video card. Most newer monitors are
versatile enough to handle all this, but not all.
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, but simply putting on
an adapter won't necessarily work.
