NFS and Messed Up File Deletions

All,

I have a system in which I am mounting an EXT2 partition on a remote system via NFSv3. I am writing a lot of data
quickly of a fairly good size (>10MB). After a while, the partition on the remote NFS mounted partition fills up.

If I simply try to delete the files on the remote NFS partition from the local machine, they disappear from view of
the "ls" command. However, the remote NFS partition still shows up as full in the local "df" command. The only method I
have found to accurately resolve the issue is a re-format of the partition. I am unable to accomplish this via the
NFS mount.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can reclaim the space over the NFS mount?

    Thanks mich.

	Steve
