New oddity with Google

Answers to all of the above:

1. No Firefox extensions. Just standard Ubuntu Gutsy install.

2. Only plugins are totem (damn, I have to trash that every time I do
maintenance) and mplayer (this one actually works except when the
developers screw with the sound packages).

3. The popup has the standard multi-color Google header. The actual
popup says "We're sorry... but your query looks similar to automated
requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our
users, we can't process your request right now. " This is followed by
a box to enter the characters in a picture (I forget the name for
this). If you enter the correct characters, the request is completed.

4. I'm not aware of any filters in place by Comcast, but I suppose
that is possible. OTOH, if Comcast were at fault, I should get the
same results from going to www.google.com. It has to be something
thrown in by Firefox and/r the Ubuntu implementatin of Firefox. I'll
post this on the Gutsy forum and see if anyone else has seen this.
