Back in antiquity buying a CRT mail-order was NBD.  You decided your 
preference for aperture grill or shadow mask, dot size, and 
manufacturer's reputation.  

When LCD's began to appear I spent a lot of time gazing at the displays 
(and price tags.)  I could not see why anyone would pay $500 or more for 
a blurry display.  Now prices are down and display quality is up; so 
much so it is hard to find a really good CRT on display in other than a 
specialty shop.
