And it can't run OS X (I put up with the stupid keyboard and touchpad on

running OS X).

FWIW, it is now possible to get/build whitebox laptops as Intel has come up
with some pretty decent specs for standardizing things in the laptop world.
There was at least one article in RAM (Reseller Advocate Magazine) on these
recently.  Unfortunately the standards only include touchpads.
