There's a link in the article below describing ``How Microsoft
Ensures Virus-Free Software''.  The link disappeared from the
Microsoft support site, but the 'Wayback Machine still has it so
I changed the article to point to that.

That said, I am seeing a fairly large number of cracked Linux
systems, mostly the result of bad passwords or PHP security
holes.  The least dangerous of these are user-level breakins
where the cracker installs bots running as an unpriviledged user.
More recently I've seen a number of rootkitted machines cracked
through webmin, usermin, or bad passwords via secure shell with
unrestricted password access allowed.
