Yes, Panama is not very wide. The canal is only 50 miles long. It's
a little wider here. I am _very_ close to the Pacific ocean (only a
few kilometers). Problem is, if you're bringing in a sailboat, you
need to watch your draft and come in at high tide through the channel
at Boca Brava to come in to Pedregal Port. With Tides here averaging
14 feet, and some of the currents, we have our challenges. It will be
_much_ easier from someone coming in on the Atlantic side, mooring,
catching the plane, and flying over. Quicker too.
But any yachtees that get down this way are welcome. BTW, I run the
local Sailmail station (HF) as well as a Winlink (HAM-HF) station.
