The last time I looked, OpenOffice.org didn't have a WP import filter,
but the not-for-free StarOffice from Sun did. The cost of StarOffice
would be far less than writing a conversion program.
Once upon a time I wrote a program to convert Scripsit word processing
documents to WordPerfect 4.3 (which any word processor worthy of the name
could read). As I remember, the folks at WordPerfect were quite helpful
with the technical specs for their binary file formats (as opposed to the
Tandy folks who either didn't have a clue what went on inside Scripsit
or weren't telling so I had to figure that out for myself :-).
