I think we have this discussion every few years.  The "dinosaurs" are 
kinda set in their ways and can bang out a document with WP8 with no 
system interface "overhead" getting in the way.  We jumped from DOS 
(WP6.x) to Linux without missing a beat.

I use OO/StarOffice and TextMaker when I have to deal with Word .doc 
files,  and applaud efforts like Abiword to help with wordprocessing 
chores on Linux.  But if I have to get something written and printed to 
meet a deadline, WP8 for me is still faster and more reliable than 
anything else.
