Well, as long as you've been around Lonnie, I'm sure you've heard of
Smalltalk and Alan Kay. Squeak is the higher-end child of Smalltalk
development, 3D environments, VR and all of that. Croquet runs on top of
it, and is used to develop projects like "SecondLife". The SecondLife
beta linux client works pretty darn good, it's free and the connection
to Secondlife's site is too, just a little bit restricted if you're not
paying for full access. Give it a shot and you'll see that it is the
ultimate game.
Rummaging in the basement with Croquet is another matter. But, once you
experience Secondlife, then you'll be hooked on making the tools run
with Linux, building your own environment with Croquet and Squeak. Well,
that's me. <chuckles>
