Changing the Kernel

This should be simple, but I can't find the documentation on how to do
this.

I need to change / add the following parameters to my linux kernel
(SLES9), but I do not know where to do this.   In Solaris it is very
simple - edit the /etc/system file, and reboot.

Where / how do I do this in Suse ?
