 From a System stand point, no. LINUX leaves FILE/ROW locking up to the
application. Has it good points and bad points, but better than the Windoze
way of doing things.

Trust me, all the studying on file I/O, buffering and the like for
my MVISAM has TAUGHT me a lot on that subject.

On VU's problem, I would suggest it is a time for a rebuild or unload/reload
of the file. Sounds like something is going on in a not very good way.
