OK, you didn't say that it was timing out before.  I'd bet that the super 
high latency on the satellite connection is leading to the timeout. 
Couple that with birds, chipmunks and random solar flares impacting 
connectivity to the satellite, and i'd say its perfectly normal to see 
this sort of problem in your configuration.  Hopefully someone else has 
other suggestrions, but i think you're fscked.
