oh, speaker

While I were in the process of upgrading my desktop from FC7 to FC8, I
found that my FC ( even when it was 7 , before switch to 8 ) now uses
the speaker to alert. For example, when I type in a wrong password, it
would use the standard speaker to make a really *big* noise.

( By the way, this system is under VMWare ).

It seems all the sound modules loaded properly :
> [root at vm2 ~]# lsmod | grep snd
> snd_ens1371 23905 3
> gameport 14665 1 snd_ens1371
> snd_rawmidi 21185 1 snd_ens1371
> snd_ac97_codec 92389 1 snd_ens1371
> ac97_bus 6081 1 snd_ac97_codec
> snd_seq_dummy 6725 0
> snd_seq_oss 29889 0
> snd_seq_midi_event 9793 1 snd_seq_oss
> snd_seq 44849 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
> snd_seq_device 10061 4 snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
> snd_pcm_oss 37569 0
> snd_mixer_oss 16705 1 snd_pcm_oss
> snd_pcm 63685 3 snd_ens1371,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss
> snd_timer 20549 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm
> snd 43461 16 snd_ens1371,snd_rawmidi,snd_ac97_codec,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer
> soundcore 9633 1 snd

Any help is really appreciated. I am making noise in my office now. :(

Thanks,
Vu
