	Not stupid at all. I should have clarified this. There is no speaker
in the PC. I think the way this is supposed to work is that that calls to the 
speaker are intercepted and redirected to the sound card. I know that the 
sound card works, but for some reason the redirection of the system bell to 
the sound card is not working. Which makes me suspect that the problem lies 
with all those alias statements in /etc/modules... But, I haven't been able 
to figure out what's missing/mis-configured.
