Sendmail usually comes out of the box only recognizing the loopback
interface, and thus, only users on that same box can exchange email.
You'll need to get sendmail to recognize the ethernet port(s) as well in
order for it to talk to the outside world.
You'll have to Google around and look for the current "fix". Been
several years (7+) since I've had to mess with sendmail on Linux.
I gave up on Linux and have moved my servers over to FreeBSD which
*does NOT* break things to protect unuducated users. My hair is growing
back and my ulcer is much much better ;-) Don't fret, I still use Linux
for my workstations, so I haven't given up completely :)
