There was noise a while back about bittorrent getting into the legal 
download business with movie/TV content.

I would guess that this is the first step in that process. I would also 
think that the new client will remain compatible with the old protocol.
This would be so the new client can be used to track who was the first 
to upload copyrighted content and then get them for all the subsequent 
downloads as well as all the downloaders in one action. It will most 
likely phone home or MediaSentry et al. with each torrent start.

In MNSHO, they should rename the new package to SnitchTorrent.
