first "dragster" in the world to top 120 mph at what is now SNA (?), in
prolly 1952 or 3.  It was an old Army Air Corps base turned over to a
private air field that allowed weekend drag races.  Laguna Beach, where
I lived 'til I was 25. was the greatest place you could imagine.  Went
back a couple of years ago for my 50th reunion...   Couldn't believe
Southern California!!! People drive 90 and 100 mph on the freeways.
