This is a new install of Ubuntu Dapper; it appears to be postfix 2.2.10.
I have a theory that it was somehow caused by the fact that I changed the
hostname of this machine after it had been installed. And the change may not
have filtered to all the sundry places at the right time. This may have
confused Postfix.
